Dear OLM Family & Friends
The United Nations declared January 24th as the International Day of Education. “Education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility. Education offers children a ladder out of poverty and a path to a promising future. Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.” UN
Aa Stated in the Belief Statements of OLM:
“We believe that a solid intellectual foundation enables children to reach their potential and prepare for a lifetime of learning. Our Lady of Mercy challenges each child to strive for academic excellence beyond basic skills.”
“We believe the Catholic faith is the foundation of our school and is integrated into all aspects of student life. Through prayer, liturgy, the Sacraments and religious instruction, students encounter Christ.”
Catholic Education is unique; we challenge the students academically and nurture the students spiritually. We believe that both are essential elements in becoming a well rounded, compassionate, faith filled human being.
Today, we celebrate the gift of OLM and the opportunities our students receive. We thank our parents, alumni, and friends for their support, both financially and spiritually. In the words of Nelson Mandella, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” I believe that we are preparing OLM students to be fierce, brave, empathetic, leaders ready to help change the world.
Peace & Prayers,
Josephine Gandolfo
