December 15, 2021

Dear Our Lady of Mercy Regional Catholic School Parents and Guardians,

Since its inception, OLM School has sought to provide educational excellence for our youth with a strong focus on their intellectual and spiritual formation.  As a joint ministry of Saint Alphonsus, Saint Anthony and Saint Catherine Parishes, the Catholic faith is at the core of our school community’s identity and permeates all that we do.  We seek to help our children not only grow in knowledge and wisdom, but also to know Truth itself in the person of Jesus Christ, and to enjoy a personal relationship with him and his Church.

This mission of forming our children in mind, body and soul is a shared responsibility.  As parents and guardians you are the first teachers of your children.  We recognize and value the trust you place in all of us – the OLM Pastors, Board Members, administration, faculty and staff – to be partners with you as we all seek to provide a safe and authentic Christian community where our youth can reach their God-given potential.  Ours is a collaborative mission.  Jesus is at its center, and its sole purpose is to serve the needs of our children.  We are deeply grateful to all of you for your support of OLM and its mission.  So too we are deeply grateful to all our faculty and staff who daily witness to their selfless dedication by their generous care of our children.

We recognize that this is an important moment to strengthen this support and witness, to build on our past and to ensure an even better and brighter future.  It requires transparency and cooperation, trust and goodwill, care for one another and unity.  A vital part of accomplishing this goal is strong and authentic leadership.

We are pleased to announce today that we have appointed Mrs. Marianne Finnegan as the interim Principal of OLM, effective January 3, 2022.  Mrs. Finnegan has a wealth of experience, having served in administration in parochial and private Catholic schools for 23 years and as Assistant Superintendent of Education for 8 years in the Diocese of Trenton.  She is aware of our faculty and staff vacancies and will be making it her priority to fill these critical positions with those who are equally committed to the mission of OLM.  We are excited for the OLM community to meet Mrs. Finnegan and to experience firsthand her leadership and exceptional gifts.

We are also pleased to announce that the search for a new permanent principal will begin immediately.  Attached to this letter is an outline of how that search will be conducted, as well as a profile of Mrs. Finnegan, outlining more fully her professional experience in education and administration.

May we remain constant in prayer for our OLM community, that the Lord may bless us and Our Lady of Mercy watch over us always.  And may we all remain united in offering our gifts in service of one another, recognizing that this mission is shared by us all.
