Mrs. Nancy Weir

ELA Resource Teacher, K-8
BS LaSalle University
Master’s and Reading Specialist Chestnut Hill College

My name is Nancy Weir and I am very excited to be returning this year  to Our Lady of Mercy Regional Catholic School as the school resource teacher and  a 5th grade math teacher.

I hold a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and a Reading Specialist certification.  I have worked in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for over sixteen years.

I started at OLM as a long term substitute and then as a third grade teacher. In September 2023 my role changed as I became part of the student support team. This role allows me to support any and every student that needs it whether it be in the classroom, in a small group, or as part of the whole classroom setting.

This year  I also have the honor of being part of the 5th grade team as a Math teacher.

While I enjoy helping students learn all subjects, my favorite ones to teach are Reading, Writing, and Science.

The early educational years are cornerstones for helping students to become lifelong readers and writers. My reading instruction and planning  focuses on the foundational concepts of the science of reading.

I gently challenge students through a mutually respectful, consistent, and fun learning environment. In all subjects my lesson activities reflect my belief that we all learn in different ways. Therefore I employ a variety of strategies to help students acquire the skills to be successful. I enjoy working as a team with parents and colleagues to help students reach their spiritual, academic, and social goals. I am looking forward to another wonderful year at Our Lady of Mercy.
